When Olivia Shaw’s mother dies, the sophisticated food editor is astonished to learn she’s inherited a centuries-old English estate—and a title to go with it. Raw with grief and reeling from the knowledge that her reserved mother hid something so momentous, Olivia leaves San Francisco and crosses the pond to unravel the mystery of a lifetime.

One glance at the breathtaking Rosemere Priory and Olivia understands why the manor, magnificent even in disrepair, was the subject of her mother’s exquisite paintings. What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it to her. As Olivia begins digging into her mother’s past, she discovers that the peeling wallpaper, debris-laden halls, and ceiling-high Elizabethan windows covered in lush green vines hide unimaginable secrets.

Although personal problems and her life back home beckon, Olivia finds herself falling for the charming English village and its residents. But before she can decide what Rosemere’s and her own future hold, Olivia must first untangle the secrets of her past.

Jenn’s Review

In a life full of books and stories, every once in awhile, a book comes along that pulls you in, makes reality fall away, and haunts you long after you read that final paragraph. The Art of Inheriting Secrets by Barbara O’Neal is one of those rare finds.

Olivia Shaw has had a horrible year. She’s lost so much, and when she discovers letters from a solicitor in England regarding the estate, she discovers a whole other side of her mother, including an English Manor, a title, and a decades-old mystery.

Olivia’s mother has left her a treasure hunt and a mountain of difficult decisions. Her ex-boyfriend has a vendetta, but as she begins to own her title and the responsibility that comes with it, she discovers new friends, support, and love.

Rosemere is a mess and St. Ives Cross is an obstacle course she must manage. Can she save her mother’s legacy and put the ghosts of the past to rest?

This is a slow, deep read, interlaced with love, memories, and challenges. Sympathetic characters and richly imagined landscapes line the pages. Definitely a keeper!

A position he was surprised to be well suited for with his charm and unrivaled focus. But he never expected the likes of Cassie Summer to come calling.

Cassie never expected to call an escort for the sole purpose of helping her sleep after a sudden tragedy. She certainly never anticipated the sizzling Renner Shaw would be the light that helps guide her out of grief. Only, it may be too late to salvage her splintered heart.

Making his client feel safe and secure is harder than Renner ever imagined, but he’s determined to fulfill his role to perfection. To change her gray and dreary world into one of colorful pleasure.

Jenn’s Review:

I found a novella that was both sweet and steamy, with a satisfying ending in Susan Sheehey’s Tell Me What You Want. Who knew being a male escort could lead a man to the woman of his dreams?

Renner’s a man with a history – and not the warm fuzzy kind of history. So when his friends dupe him into his first gig as a gigolo, he’s surprised to find that his skills as a lover can, in fact, go hand in hand with his skills as a bodyguard. He’s charming and focused, and very good at giving women what they’re looking for as a high-end escort.

Cassie just wants a full night’s sleep, which she hasn’t had since the tragedy that ripped her husband out of her life. Now, she’s juggling life without a partner and a traumatized son, nightmares and loneliness. Who knew an escort would not only help her get a good night’s sleep but would also start piecing her broken heart back together?

Tell Me What You Want is, for the most part, a sweet romance, with a few sensual scenes that follow the midpoint. Ms. Sheehey builds the suspense and character development subtly, rocketing her readers through a beautifully developed story, drops readers off a cliff in the Black Moment, and then ties it all up in a neat bow for a satisfying conclusion.
