About the Book

Savannah’s Secrets; Reese Ryan
Adult; African American Romance; 240 Pages

Harlequin Desire; Original edition (March 1, 2018)

Falling for the boss, or taking him down?

Savannah Carlisle had the perfect plan. By infiltrating the Abbott family’s Tennessee bourbon empire as their events manager, she’d be one step closer to claiming half of the business they stole from her grandfather. Now she’s not so sure. Because sexy Blake Abbott, heir to it all, is simply intoxicating. He’s supposed to be the enemy. But after one long, stormy weekend, she’s pregnant with his child…

About the Author

Reese Ryan writes sexy, deeply emotional romances with family drama, surprising secrets, and unexpected twists.

Past president of her local Romance Writers of America chapter and a panelist at the 2017 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, Reese is an advocate for the romance genre and diversity in fiction.

Jenn’s Review

Dive into a steamy read on a rainy day, about love, lies, and other tricky business in Reese Ryan’s short novel, Savannah’s Secrets.

Savannah is a determined woman on a mission. Fifty years ago, her grandfather’s business partner cheated him out of a fortune and stole his recipe for the bourbon that has made the Abbott family wealthy. Or so the story goes. So when Savannah manages to land a job as an event manager for the company, she grasps her opportunity to expose their lies and get what her grandfather is owed. Only, she didn’t count on falling hard for one of them.

Blake Abbott has his own ghosts, and he knows better than to get involved with an employee, but when Savannah is stranded at the office, with the only connecting road flooded between office and her apartment, taking her home with him for the weekend seems like the right thing to do, even if it is a horrible idea.

As the situation becomes more and more complicated, their just- budding love is tested, but is it strong enough to weather the outing of so many lies?

Reese Ryan crafts a sensual love story with humor liberally sprinkled throughout. Well crafted characters draw the reader in for a rollercoaster ride that ends in fireworks.

About the Book

Forbidden by Time; Negeen Papehn
Adult; Multicultural Romances; 210 Pages

City Owl Press (July 1, 2019)

When love blossoms from the unexpected will the years between separate them forever?

On the outside, Bita appears to have it all under control. She’s a no-nonsense, strong-willed, force to be reckoned with. On the inside, though, she’s spent most of her life dealing with her pushy Iranian mother, ever-concerned father, and overbearing younger brother.

But that’s all about to change.

Bita is determined to stand on her own two feet. She’s purchasing her first home, and ultimately, her independence. When Bita meets Ramtin, the sexy, older real estate agent, she gets more than she ever imagined. What was meant to be a simple property transaction blooms into a fierce desire that leaves her breathless.

Now they must make their relationship work despite their fifteen-year age gap and interference from their traditional families. Ramtin is everything she never knew she wanted, that is until something unexpected becomes an all-or-nothing deal-breaker, and Ramtin may not be all in. Bita must decide what’s worth fighting for and if Ramtin is worth the final risk…losing her heart.

About the Author

Negeen Papehn was born and raised in southern California, where she currently lives with her husband and two rambunctious boys. She wasn’t always a writer. A graduate of USC dental school, Negeen spends half of her week with patients and the other half in front of her laptop. In the little time she finds in between, she loves to play with her boys, go wine tasting with her friends, throw parties, and relax with her family.

Jenn’s Review

Negeen Papehn has another hit in her third release, Forbidden by Time. Sultry romance mingles a sexy, middle-aged single dad and a lonely late-20’s heroine in this installment of the Forbidden Love series.

Bita is struggling with being the older, unmarried sibling, now that her brother Mazir is married to Sara (check out book 1 for those fireworks!). Now that she’s finished college, it’s time to strike out on her own. And sparks fly when she finds herself attracted to her realtor. So what if he’s 15 years older?

Ramtin has only been divorced for 3 years and has two teen daughters he juggles with his successful real estate career. He is attracted to Bita like nothing else, but life as a single dad sharing custody with a miserable ex-wife is never uncomplicated.

Making their relationship work will require both to trust each other and themselves.

Forbidden by Time is nearly a sweet romance with tantalizing and simmering attraction and tension. Ms. Papehn weaves another fantastic story of Iranian-American culture and love, with reappearances of beloved characters from previous stories. (For those who’ve read book 1, it’s fantastic to get a look inside Bita’s head!) The story can stand alone, but reading book 1 first will add depth and understanding of the recent past for Bita’s family.

A fabulous 4-star read.

About the Book

Total Bravery; Piper J. Drake
Adult; Romance; 305 Pages

Publisher – Forever (April 24, 2018)

True heroes will do anything to protect the women they love…

As the newest recruit at Search and Protect, Raul has a lot to prove. Luckily, he’s got the best friend and partner a man could ask for: a highly trained, fiercely loyal German Shepherd Dog named Taz. Together, Raul and Taz make an unbeatable team. But their first mission in Hawaii really puts them to the test when an international kidnapping ring sets its sights on the bravest woman Raul’s ever met . . .

Mali knows her latest job has put one hell of a target on her back. And on this small island paradise, there’s nowhere to hide. With a service dog like Taz, Mali feels safe. Sharing close quarters with a smoldering muscle-for-hire like Raul, she feels something else – an unexpected wave of desire. Raul feels it too. But when the kidnappers make their move, he’s got to turn that slow-burning passion into hard-hitting action – and save the life of the woman he loves.

About the Author

Piper J. Drake is a bestselling author of romantic suspense and edgy contemporary romance, a frequent flyer, and day job road warrior. She is often distracted by dogs, cupcakes, and random shenanigans.

Jenn’s Review

Action, suspense, kidnappers, and service dogs merge with spectacular results in Piper Drake’s romantic suspense, Total Bravery.

Raul is the new guy on the team and is still settling in with his new K9 partner, Taz. He’s certainly not looking for a fling, let alone a relationship.

Until he runs into Mali.

Her research brought her to Hawaii. It’s also brought some unwanted attention from a top sex-traffic ring. Can she let go of her objective long enough to let Raul and his team keep her safe?

I absolutely loved this book. Drake weaves a fascinating plot full of emotion, tension, and steamy attraction. Two thumbs up and four-stars.

The Last King; Katee Robert

Forever (April 3, 2018)

Opposites attract in this sexy new contemporary romance series from the New York Times bestselling author of The Marriage Contract.
The rebel. That’s how Samara Mallick has always thought of Beckett King. And he’s absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help after inheriting his father’s company. She can’t help wondering if it’s a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she’d mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.
But soon the threats to the Kings are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.

About the Author

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. RT Book Reviews named her title, The Marriage Contract, “a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension.” When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

Jenn’s Review

Hunky billionaire and enemies-to-lovers romance crown The Last King by Katee Robert. Steamy balanced with sweet that gripped me on page one and continued to the very end.

Beckett has inherited…almost everything, after his father’s sudden death. But a family rift that goes back decades leaves him in a perilous position that could cost him what he has left. His rival, Samira, is on his heels, working hard to wipe him out on behalf of his embittered aunt, but with the history between these two, feelings are bound up, the heat is intense, and people are getting hurt.

Samara is game for taking down the playboy revel that’s been a thorn in her side for years. She has her reasons for playing hardball, and she swallows her pride in the office, putting up with her tyrant boss, to keep herself out of trouble, and to not repeat her mother’s mistakes. Unfortunately, her boss is Beckett’s embittered aunt, and the family secrets and corporate espionage are becoming complicated and downright dangerous for her. Her long-held and coveted position in the rival oil company loses its shine as her boss repeatedly pushes her to compromise her integrity to destroy a man that Samara is only just starting to understand.

The Last King is high-quality romantic suspense that I’d add to my top ten list (if such things were possible to keep track of!). Subplots abound, and things are twisty; and from the outset, it’s clear who’s doing wrong to whom, but getting to the outing of such secrets was so much fun! Sexy suspense that’ll keep you reading until you hit the back cover.

About the Book

Swansong; Allie McCormack
Adult; Romance; 261 Pages

Date published March 4, 2019

She’s everything he’s ever wanted…
Will she ever trust him with her secrets and let him in?

Swansong is a multi-cultural romance with a happy ever after.

Sarah Pendleton was born into a life of wealth and privilege, raised in the shadow of her famous soprano mother and her father, an equally famous composer. Shy and retiring, and treasuring her anonymity, Sarah left the world she grew up in to make her own life in the coastal town of Santa Barbara, California.

A visiting University professor of Arabic literature from the small oil-rich country of Taqara, Khalid Al Mansour is the eldest son of a Taqaran diplomat and an independent American artist. He’s never settled down in one place, but that’s because he’s never found what he wanted… until one evening, he sees the lovely belly dancer at a small, smoky cafe downtown.

Khalid falls hard for Sarah… and she has feelings for him too…
But sometimes secrets have a way of tearing lovers apart.

Jenn’s Review

Allie McCormack comes through again with the premiere of her multicultural romance series, Sons of the Desert. Swansong is the story of Sarah and Khalid – a seemingly carefree dancer and the scholar-sheikh.

Sarah feels like an entirely different woman as she steps out onto the floor as Cassandra when she performs as a belly dancer for the first time. Cassandra is the antithesis to Sarah’s demure, shy personality, and the wild, sexy dancer has caught the eye of a wealthy Arab man.

Khalid knows, from the moment Cassandra catches his eye, that he must get to know the woman behind the veil, who captures the spirit of the music in her every move on the floor. But the woman eludes him, and when he finally manages to corner her and convince her to go to coffee with him, he discovers someone who can end his loneliness.

Sarah has secrets, though, and her upbringing has trained her well to play her cards close to the vest. Can they overcome her past to love all the way to forever?

Swansong is an adult, multicultural romance set in sunny Santa Barbara, California. Rich settings and beautifully rendered characters sit in a plot that will keep you turning page after page. This is book 1 in the series and a fantastic addition to Allie McCormack’s contemporary romance portfolio.
